Terminal MS Degree

In certain cases, a student who will not continue on to PhD may be awarded a terminal MS degree in Statistical Science (MSS), representing completion of graduate studies in the department. Such a student must satisfy the MSS requirements. In these cases, the Statistical Science Preliminary exam serves as the completion exercise. Performance in the prelim must be judged by the graduate faculty of the department to be consistent with MS level achievement.  Students must register intent to receive the MSS with the Graduate School.
