Graduate Placements

The Department of Statistical Science places a very high emphasis on career and professional development. We offer in-house assistance with resume writing, interviewing, communication, and presentation skills through our ProSeminar class and additional workshops. Additionally, potential employers and alumni visit the department to offer information sessions, networking opportunities, and recruitment activities for MSS students. The department hosts numerous career events throughout the Fall and Spring semester, including MSS and MIDS Joint Career Event, Alumni Day, and the MS and Ph.D. The Graduate Career Fair (hosted by the Duke Career Center).

We support broad engagement with the campus community through data dialogues, invited industry discussions, DataFest competition, and other projects to allow our students to explore the world of statistics and data science and understand the challenges of translating data into application.

Our students can follow diverse career paths, including Research/Ph.D. opportunities at renowned universities or working with industry, government, or non-government organizations in various job roles.
