  • Liberty Mutual is a Fortune 100 company and currently has over 200 full-time data scientists supporting our organization. Every summer we hire 20-25 MS and PhD students to join us for 10-12 weeks who apply cutting edge data science techniques to positively impact our business results. As an intern you could explore areas such as machine learning, deep learning, cloud computing and various other modeling techniques. In addition, we provide intern’s with a robust summer programming calendar to assist with social and professional development. The internship program is an excellent way to be pipelined for full-time data science career opportunities after graduation.

  • Dan McCarthy, Sr. Campus Recruiter:
    • Dan McCarthy is Sr. Campus Recruiter at Liberty Mutual Insurance. He’s aligned to our graduate Data Science Internship Program where every year we hire 20-25 MS and PhD Students to join us for the summer. Dan has been with Liberty Mutual for 3.5 years and lives in the Greater Boston area. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and going to the beach! 
  • Eden Huang, Analyst II Data Scientist:
    • Eden Huang is a data scientist at the Legal Department of Liberty Mutual. He graduated from Duke MSS in 2018 and joined Liberty in 2019 after briefly working for an analytics consulting firm. He has been working on projects such as the automation of legal billing process and the evaluation of legal claims quality, as well as a short-term rotation at a team that works on applied computer vision projects. He is based in Boston and enjoys travelling around the world. He's also on the board of Duke Alumni Association in Boston.
  • Sarah Mansfield, Analyst I, Data Scientist:
    • Sarah recently graduated from Duke University with an MS in Statistical Science, and prior to that graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Statistics. She currently works as an Analyst I, Data Scientist and is particularly interested in topics such as NLP, CV, and data visualization. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, and exploring nature.
