Crafting an Effective Resume

In this resume writing workshop, students will learn how to write a resume that garners the attention of recruiters and hiring managers, while still being compliant with generally accepted principles for writing applicant tracking system compliant resumes. They will also learn the key elements of an effective job search campaign, the differences between resumes and CVs, and cover letter best practices. After reviewing examples of strong resume content, students will engage in peer workshopping to strengthen their resumes. Afterward, they will meet with the instructor, Heidi Scott Giusto, PhD, individually to further enhance their resumes.

Heidi Scott Giusto, Ph.D., owns and operates Career Path Writing Solutions, a communications consulting firm dedicated to helping you communicate when it matters most. She launched CPWS in 2013 shortly after graduating from Duke University with her Ph.D. in History. Heidi delights in working with students to put their best foot forward to future employers and helping job seekers navigate career change.

Heidi holds certifications in resume writing, interview preparation, and empowerment coaching, and sits on the Certification Committee of the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches.
