Study Design: Design of Surveys and Causal Studies
STA 322
Investigation of study designs collecting data and their implications for statistical inference. Design and analysis of surveys of populations, including stratification, clustering, multi-stage sampling, design-based inference, considerations when analyzing convenience samples, and big data. Design and analysis of causal studies, including A/B testing and randomized experiments, blocking, fractional factorial designs, non-randomized studies, and propensity score analysis. Applications involving health, policy, natural and social sciences, as well as examples relevant to big tech. Not open to students who have taken STA 522. Recommended prerequisite or corequisite: STA 210L, 221L, 521L, or the equivalent.
