Postdoc Changwoo Lee wins best long talk award at BAYSM!

Changwoo Lee
Dr. Changwoo Lee, postdoctoral scholar in Statistical Science

Postdoc Changwoo Lee was awarded the "Best Long Talk" prize at BAYSM 2025. Dr. Lee presented the paper  "Scalable and robust regression methods for continuous proportional data," motivated by a long-standing collaboration in ecological modeling between Duke University and University of Jväskylä. According to Arts & Sciences Distinguished Professor David Dunson, "Changwoo provides a substantial improvement to standard practice, which relies on beta regression. His approach is more robust and leads to substantial practical improvements. This should have broad impact in ecological applications and beyond." Graduate student Ben Dahl played a critical supporting role in developing a computationally efficient algorithm, and joins as coauthor along with Dunson and Professor Otso Ovaskainen. Congratulations to Dr. Lee and the team for their work!
