PhD Student Receives INFORMS Best Student Paper Award

PhD student Xiaojun Zheng (with advisor Assistant Professor Simon Mak) received the Best Student Paper Award at the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) Annual Meeting. Their paper, “PERCEPT: a new online change-point detection method using topological data analysis”, proposes a new topology-aware online change detection approach for monitoring high-dimensional data streams, with applications to solar flare detection and human gesture monitoring.
