The Department of Statistical Science at Duke University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate

The Department of Statistical Science at Duke University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in statistical science with Professor Rebecca Steorts (https://resteorts.github.io/. The Associate will work on methodological research related to one or more of the following topics, depending on the candidate's interests: (1) entity resolution (record linkage and de-duplication), including building new methodology for entity resolution and evaluating such method on both simulated and real data, (2) exploring theoretical properties of entity resolution, (3) exploring computational speed ups for entity resolution in large-scale social science data. The Associate will be supervised by Rebecca Steorts, assistant professor in the Department of Statistical Science.
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in statistical science, computer science, or machine learning or a related field and will have strong background in complex Bayesian modeling, computation in high dimensions, and an interest in human rights/social science/government applications. No previous experience entity resolution/record linkage methods is necessary, although such experience will be viewed favorably. The Associate will be expected to participate in methodological research leading to publications in top statistical and applied journals, participate in mentoring of other students, and participate in group research meetings. The appointment will be for a one year contract with potential for up to one years’ renewal. Salary is $60,000 per year. The Associate may be expect to perform teaching duties, and this will be discussed at the time of hiring.
Applicants should apply through Academic Jobs Online https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/13475. Materials to upload include a CV, a statement of background and interests in the particular research described above, and contact information only for three references.
