The Statistical Science Majors Union (SSMU) is excited to announce an upcoming seminar featuring Dr. Joshua Starmer on Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 3:15 to 4:15pm in Social Sciences 136! Dr. Starmer is an accomplished bioinformatics researcher and founder of the StatQuest YouTube channel. Originally created to teach statistics concepts to researchers at UNC, StatQuest has since grown into a prominent educational platform with 1.56M subscribers, known for making statistics accessible without sacrificing rigor.
In this talk, Dr. Starmer will discuss the origins and guiding principles of StatQuest, its innovative approaches to communicating complex statistical and machine learning concepts, and the intersection of AI, statistics, and the sciences in modern research.
