The primary responsibility of the graduate consulatitive committee (GCC) is to represent the Ph.D. student body to the faculty of the department of statistical science. Members of the GCC act as liason between faculty and students to ensure needs and desires of both parties are met and addressed within the department.

The GCC work primarily with the director of graduate studies (DGS) to ensure all academic needs of the students are met. Complaints or suggestions by the students regarding departmental issues (e.g. seminar, office space, etc.) are brought to the department head by the GCC.
The GCC and graduate students organize the Departmental New Student Orientation each Fall (with Scavenger Hunt and Progressive Dinner with faculty), campouts for Basketball Tickets, the annual Halloween Party, and other events during the year. The GCC is also responsible for coordinating desk selection, assigning student advisors to first year Ph.D. students, and assigning hosts to visiting students.
