The Department of Statistical Science offers a graduate program leading to the Master of Science (MS) degree to all students enrolled in other PhD programs at Duke University.
This is referred to as the Concurrent MS degree, and provides the opportunity for these students to obtain the MS in Statistical Science along with the PhD in their own disciplines.
Concurrent MS students come from PhD programs as diverse as Biomedical Engineering, Business, Chemistry, Computational Biology & Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Environmental Studies, Mechanical and Environmental Engineering, Neurobiology, Physics, Political Science and Sociology, representing the advanced level of statistical science and research across many disciplines at Duke - the primary raison d'être for the concurrent MS program. The concurrent MS degree requires the development, submission and defense of an MS thesis.
Please note that this degree is not open to application for admission of external students.
